How I Read Interweave Knits
How I Read Interweave Knits (when the new issue arrives):
1. Briefly look at the cover
2. Flip the magazine over
3. Open from the back
4. Read essay
5. Make note of the list of Texas yarn shops on the Yarn Shop Directory pages
6. Check to see if any Oklahoma yarn shops are listed -- still none listed, though I've visited Loops, SWAK, and Gourmet Yarn Co.
7. Look through the pattern instructions and photos (Kat has a great linen skirt in it this issue)
8. Read articles -- in this month's issue, there's an excellent article by Lolly!
9. Read News and Views (an article titled "Ravelry Rules!")
10. Read Eunny's page
11. Close and start again from the front (looking more closely at the photos and garment instructions) then put the magazine away . . .

Nice technique--I just rapidly flip through and see if any patterns grab me. Then I read blogs to see what the 'hot' patterns are...I'm a lemming!

Sounds like me! I am just now reading the Winter issue because I never received mine for some reason. Now I have two to read!! ;-)

My approach is somewhat similar as a general rule, although I turned to Lolly's article right away this time (I was expecting it). Often, I look at the patterns and try to decide which ones would suit me and which ones might be nice for someone I love. This issue had two for me and LOTS for my rather more slender sister & her daughter. Instead of putting this one away, I may bring it with me next week to a sibling get-together in Vermont.

Very elaborate! I wander through it and make notes in KnitAble about patterns and articles I like, then read the essay if it's of interest.

That sounds familiar! ;-)

I don't always do it exactly like that but close enough. I just finished Lolly's article and did not realize it was hers. Thanks for the heads up.

thanks for the heads up on lolly's article.
i had no idea.
i head straight for the photos/patterns. put it next to the bed, and slowly brows through. page by page. one page a night. :)

A very interesting method. I have to look at all the pictures first. I slowly work my way through the articles. Thanks for pointing out that Lauren Weinhold is Lolly. I might have missed that.

I need to follow your list. I think I look through it too quickly. Most of the designs, I feel, well, more likely intimidate me so I put the mag away and tell myself that one day I'll knit up something fabulous. :)
But you've definitely given me a reason to check it out closely so I can find some yarn stores to check out. :)

I just flipped through it to check out everything. Then the next day I actually start in the beginning to read it.
Very happy with this issue! They've got some wonderful patterns in it.

Gah! I just realized that your blog wasn't showing up in my "friends blogs" on Ravelry. I was wondering why you had been "quiet" for so long! I wonder how many others on my list have glitches? =P
