Lizard Ridge : 7/24ths

Lizard Ridge : 7/24ths

I’m not planning actual placement of the squares until I’ve knit all 24, but today, I laid out all my washed and blocked squares. My goal is to have 12 completed squares by July 31st and I definitely think I’ll make it now. Ultimately, I want a finished Lizard Ridge by the end of the year. I’ve knit through all but two of the skeins of Kureyon I already had (plus one purchased recently) and now just need to acquire the rest — that’s the fun part!

7 July 2010: Lizard Ridge Project Page on Ravelry. When I added this photo to my project page, I noticed that I didn’t have the pink/purple one in there! So this post should have been titled 8/24ths.

Such amazing colors! I’d be hard-pressed to choose a favorite. It’s really inspiring to see them laid out next to each other like that.

I need to get back to work on my Lizard Ridge project. I finished another square a few weeks ago and haven’t picked it up since.

Now, are you just mixing your colors based on whatever yarn you pick up or are you trying to keep it all in the same color family?

This is one of those projects that waits for you :-) I work on it when I’m in the mood for something colorful and fast.

I’m just buying skeins I love! No real plan or attempt to keep things “matchy.” I do see a lot of green though — and that’s unintentional. I’m surprised by how much purple and blue I’ve ended up with.

Lovely! Those squares are just magical, aren’t they? You never know what you’re going to get until you’re done!

Thank you! They really are magical – I agree. I’ve been trying to embrace the surprises as they happen.

LOVE your squares — just gorgeous. Good idea to block as you go. I need to get working on that — I do find these squares addictive, just wanting to see how each one will look with the various colors. Of course I’m choosing my colors so it must be double the fun to see how yours unfold. Is your LR for you or are you gifting it?

Thank you! This LR is definitely for me. My diabolical scheme is campaigning for new furniture as soon as I finish it. :-D

I love washing and blocking the squares. Plus – I have a dog and the squares tend to get dog fur on them as I knit.

Oohh…this is going to be so amazing. You are super organized. I really can’t wait to see the finished blanket!

Thank you, Andi! I’m also still knitting along with you on my Leaf Lace Scarf!

Oh man…right after I bought the first batch of my yarn for this project our only local yarn shop closed. I need to find someone to help me get started…I tried on my own and it didn’t come out right……I LOVE this afghan. And it seems like everywhere I turn online it pops up….I WILL WIN OUT OVER THE PATTERN!!!!!! Do you know the color numbers of each square? I love the upper left purple one…don’t think I have that color yet. At least when the store closed I got more of the yarn for half price.

That pattern with those colours looks really nice. Makes me think of a great big sea.
